The Chair of Regional Development Australia Northern Inland (RDANI), Mal Peters, says he is not prepared to let towns in the New England North West be decimated by proposed water cuts.
Discussions are taking place this week in Canberra with New England Independent MP, Tony Windsor, irrigators and representatives from the federal Departments of Water and Regional Development.
Mal Peters says Tony Windsor has asked him to come to Canberra to talk about how regional communities can be saved.
He says he believes it is possible to limit cuts to allocations, and still return flows to river systems, if the government invests in greater water-saving technology on farms. for more click below
